Resources to Help You Change the Odds

By Kamilah Jones, New Teacher Center Vice President of Marketing and External Affairs

Over the past three months, we at New Teacher Center have been sharing valuable resources and information that can help you change the odds for students in your school district and beyond. Whether you have followed along with all the Change Maker resources we have been sharing, only downloaded a few, or haven’t had an opportunity to get your own copies – we are making it easy for you by compiling all five of our Change Maker resources into a single eBook.

While research indicates the achievement gap appears to be narrowing, there is still a lot of work to be done. We are glad to be part of a thriving community of changemakers, working hard to improve the lives of students across the country. Too many students don’t have access to highly-effective teachers, and attend schools where teachers leave at high rates. Much of the time this happens because teachers don’t have access to the job-embedded support they need to to reach their full potential and really improve learning for students.

Sharing our insights, research and guidance these last few months has allowed us to advance our mission to improve student learning by accelerating the effectiveness of new teachers, experienced teachers and school leaders. We’ve learned a lot through our work with districts and education leaders across the country about what works for students. So we’re sharing that learning with the broader community, because we know that changing the odds for students requires us all to work together.

We hope you’ll take a moment to get your own copy of NTC’s “Change the Odds” eBook, available free for download below, to help you be an agent of change at your district. It includes information on how to leverage the new federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), strengthen teacher induction, resolve the teacher shortage and develop teacher leaders.
