NTC Advocates for Title II, Part A Funding of ESSA
The threat to federal funding for public schools, developing and supporting effective teachers and principals, and amassing evidence for what works in education has never been greater. Our collective voice is needed to convince policymakers in Washington, DC that our educators and our students must remain top priorities in the Fiscal Year 2018 federal budget.
For this reason, New Teacher Center (NTC) signed onto a letter from more than 100 national and regional organizations to advocate for full funding of the Supporting Effective Instruction State Grants program, also known as Title II, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
NTC also joined a coalition of 50 national and regional organizations in advocating that Congress fund the School Leader Recruitment and Support Program, established under ESSA. (You can read the coalition letter here.) And NTC was one of more than 80 organizations that wrote to Congress to strongly express the need to include $120 million for the Education Innovation and Research (EIR) Grants program (formerly known as Investing In Innovation (i3)) in the FY 2018 federal budget.
