Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to inclusivity and accessibility

New Teacher Center is committed to making our digital content accessible to everyone, including but not limited to those with visual, hearing, cognitive, and mobility differences. We work hard to assure that usability is a top priority for NTC in serving all digital consumers. Our policy ensures accessibility for those with disabilities as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We strive to isolate and resolve all barriers to access that can be introduced when digital content is distributed.

Where feasible, New Teacher Center follows WebAIM’s Principles of Accessible Design in our digital content development. We also try to help improve the accessibility of our website for users with disabilities by:

  • Retaining the ability to adjust the font size
  • Maintaining color/contrast ratios for text
  • Providing keyboard accessible navigation
  • Use of alt text for graphics and images critical for context and understanding
  • Something about the plug-in widget we just purchased?
  • Review of regular reports of accessibility issues via third-party tool, Monsido

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1
New Teacher center aims to adhere to level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1), which states that sites should be:

  • Perceivable – Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive
  • Operable – User interface components and navigation must be operable
  • Understandable – Information and the operation of user interface must be understandable
  • Robust – Content must be robust enough that it can be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies

Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT)
As part of our commitment to accessibility, New Teacher Center provides VPAT documentation, which evaluates the accessibility of a product according to the Section 508 Standards for our website, professional learning resources, materials and proprietary cloud-based systems. Our current VPAT is available upon request via help@newteachercenter.org.
